Our Story

UNIFY NOT UNIFORM

We are a member-owned, health & wellness cooperative that uses art to restore community.

Team

Small and mighty

Community is a space where people show up to be seen and heard by one another, where everyone’s gift is interwoven as one purpose.

“The sense of community is real. I often leave our sessions feeling that my spirit, my humanity and my creativity have been fed. I leave each “fam” session better than I arrived.”

Jean Chung-Rajoon

I learned from a young age that honesty and authenticity are valuable in building relationships. My parents moved to the U.S. from Korea in the late 70s, and started a community in Virginia. They successfully led that community for over 30 years, which helped shape my love for people, relationships, and values.

My love for people and building relationships naturally led me to community building. Some of my greatest joys are seeing a group of people strive for a common goal and achieve it together, and learn about themselves along the way.

Wherever I see a possibility or an idea, I enjoy acting upon it.

Co-founder

Shem Chung-Rajoon

At age 11, I moved to Harlem, NY from Trinidad & Tobago and I immediately got involved with HarlemLive (a world-renowned youth journalism organization). In the span of over a decade, I explored being a photographer, designer, engineer, journalist, mentor, and advisor. HarlemLive nurtured me into a leader and an advocate for the voices within my community. Equipped with a press badge, I had the agency to ask questions and a platform to be heard internationally.

Today, I am a community builder, a transformational leader and most importantly a loving husband and father.
